The Curse Inside – A Letter to Father

Dear father
I’m writing this to let you know
That your will has always been my command
Up until now
I’m taking my crew out to sail east
And stop the offensive
I know you’ve spoken against it
I also know
You did so because you don’t want a reckless death for your son
But by the time you read this
We’ll be far out of reach
Thus I can disobey you
And be the man you desired me to become

Rising waves
Are Shattering us
Sons of pride pledge
Stones to be cast
Rising waves, be
Carrying on
Nurturing me
The weary son!

You’re reading this, so witness my vow:
I’ll do whatever, no matter how
If not by god’s, then your command!
In this I vow, I’ll be the man!
I’ll be the man!

Salt-soaked people
Fighting the sea
Bound to be here
They cannot see
Blind eyes could blaze
Shrine and heal thee
But I face this
They cannot see!

And so we’re sailing!
Discarding every selfish thought
The winds are wailing
And tearing us to very bones
I know ahead is
What we declared we would achieve
And we won’t perish
Until this promise is fulfilled!
Go load your guns
And sharpen your blades
Cause we are standing
At a bloody hell’s gates!
Set your hearts
And empty your thoughts
Our glory will shine
But our bodies may rot!

You’ve done so much for me
Yet I kept disappointing you
The hopes you had are broken
But no more!
Not only will I resurrect them
I will live up to them

I will embrace it like a man should
Will it be worth the pride in your kin?
While I’m standing on my feet
Albeit knee-deep in water
While my lungs breathe air, not sea foam
I want to know: will you be proud of me?
